Sunda Clouded Leopard Outreach Programme

Project Description

DGFC and Sabah Wildlife Department’s outreach programme on Sunda clouded leopard and other carnivores funded by Sime Darby Foundation. Situated in the Kinabatangan, this an important component of their clouded leopard conservation project fully funded by Sime Darby Foundation. After spending 3 weeks in Point Defiance Zoo (USA) with Karen Povey’s education team, Claire Kelly, DGFC’s education officer, started the school visit activities. Her first visit focuses on forest food webs and meet the clouded leopard. She then visit the same class two more times, before each class spends two days in DGFC, for an introduction to the rainforest and its wildlife. Afterwards, the schools are visited for a fourth time to carry out a general evaluation of the programme with the students. We would like to thank Sime Darby Foundation for their support, and Karen Povey for providing training to Claire as well as an amazing education kit, including the successful clouded leopard costume.
